Compliance, reframed as an advantage
How do you turn compliance from a burden into a business advantage?
GoEko was selling relief from a regulatory obligation. The same work, described as a competitive edge, changed who wanted to hear about it.

Before
We help businesses comply with new regulations.
After
We make sustainability a business advantage — saving you time, money, and positioning you as a leader.
The situation
GoEko connects businesses with sustainable solutions. The offer was sound; the way it was described put it in the same bucket as every other compliance obligation a company would rather not think about. The work ran as a series of structured workshops through the Storybuilding canvases.
What shifted
Three audiences, not one. Mapping the stakeholders separated three groups with genuinely different motives — companies looking to reduce costs, meet regulations and strengthen their sustainability credentials; clients wanting easy, affordable access to verified green solutions; and banks looking for low-risk, high-impact investments. Once separated, each could be spoken to in terms it recognised.
Obligation became opportunity. Compliance had been framed as a box to tick. Reframed, it became a way to gain an edge, reduce financial risk and strengthen reputation. That single move changed the proposition from something a company has to do into something it would choose to do.
Inertia had to be addressed, not ignored. Industries like construction had used the same materials and processes for decades, so change looked unnecessary and expensive. Three adjustments answered that: contrasting the old way — trade shows, manual research, costly consultants — with a faster automated route; tailoring the message per persona, since what convinces a bank is not what convinces a startup CEO; and putting return on investment beside the sustainability argument so the value was immediate rather than eventual.
The story, at three lengths
- In a sentence: GoEko connects businesses with sustainable solutions in minutes — not months.
- On the website: we help businesses find and finance green solutions quickly, affordably, and without the hassle of traditional methods.
- For investors: in a world shifting towards sustainability, GoEko removes barriers for companies, banks and cleantech providers, ensuring that compliance isn’t just a requirement — it’s a competitive advantage.
The outcome
The messaging came out clearer and more adaptable, but the more interesting result was strategic. Regulation stopped being an obstacle in the narrative and became a market driver, because it is what pushes financial institutions toward green investment. A leaderboard idea emerged — showing which companies are furthest ahead on sustainability — turning social proof into positive competitive pressure. And endorsements from recognised cleantech companies and banks were identified as the fastest route to credibility.
None of those were in the brief. They surfaced because the work forced the question of what the customer is actually trying to achieve.
What changed
- Three stakeholder groups separated, each receiving a message built for their motivation
- Regulation reframed from a compliance burden into a driver of green investment
- One core story at three lengths, from a single sentence to a full investor narrative
- New strategic ideas surfaced by the work itself, including social proof and a public leaderboard
